Dear Waterford Hills Enthusiasts,
this is an update on scheduling of coming events as decided in the April 15, 2020 Board of Directors Web Meeting.
Our season start remains somewhat unsure, however, these are the updates that we can share today:
--- Race Weekend 1 is cancelled (too much uncertainty for racers and volunteers to plan for this to happen)
--- Driver’s School on Track is now planned for May 23-24, 2020 (contingent on government and OCSC requirements)
--- 1st Race Weekend is now planned for May 30-31, 2020 (event without spectators - pending overall status – also contingent)
--- Drivers School Classroom planning is ongoing, with best fit date and
format to be communicated when allowed format can be clarified further
--- Vintage Race Weekend event - normal planned event is cancelled, as
coordinated with the event chairperson (OTD/Rental/Club event
replacements being clarified)
--- An OTD is now planned for July 26, 2020 (agreed using this now available date from the original Vintage Race schedule)
OTD3 as originally scheduled on May 9, 2020 remains in the schedule at
the moment, pending clarity on outdoor gathering with distancing on that
date.
Spectators are not planned for this OTD; limiting of number of entrants
is likely. Distancing, mask, glasses, and glove usage, and regular
sanitizing can be expected.
Any participants or volunteers who have heightened medical risks, should
plan on avoiding any upcoming events, for (at least) the coming few
months.
The General Membership Meeting on May 6, 2020 is also very much in question.
If we are allowed to have the meeting, only critical business items
would be entertained. General updates and general gathering would be
excluded.
Due to the very close timing with the current official end of the Michigan Executive Order 2020-42 (COVID-19) only days before,
we may need to share updates on this meeting with less than the targeted
2 weeks notice. Please watch your email, news, and web posts for
updates.
No new urgent Comp Board Topics have been raised to date.
If the May 6 General Membership meeting can be held in person;
distancing, mask, glasses, and glove usage, and sanitizing can be
expected.
The Director of Licensing and the Board agreed to waive late member license fees in 2020.
You are still encouraged to mail your membership documents to Curtis
Easterling to flatten the curve in membership document arrivals.
Thank you all for your support and understanding while we walk forward together on the course which is available to us in 2020.
We will continue to strive to keep you safe and informed.
Sincerely,
Franz Lieder
Waterford Hills Road Racing President, on behalf of the board and club leadership and members
