April OTDs CANCELLED, Driver School Postponed

Dear WHRRI Members, Volunteers, and Entrants,

Update on our season kickoff events.

The leadership of the club continues to watch developments on Coronavirus (COVID-19) very closely. The Board met via internet/phone on April 4, 2020.

Based on the current available details, the decision was passed, that April OTDs #1 & #2 are cancelled. ( schedule had them on April 18, April 19 )
Drivers School is postponed. Classroom session will not be held April 19.
A clear go ahead for a future date is open at this time, as to when that can be. We may trade race days, rentals, or OTDs for Drivers School days, pending an identified suitable date to do so.

WHRRI leadership will continue to share updates as clear direction is available, still pushing to give everyone 2 weeks-in-advance-notification on event decisions.

Along with proposals on how to run events safely, the board and event leaders, continue to evaluate options to safely hold key events.
Drivers School may be conducted remotely with internet connections, or with recordings, or on a later suitable date in person.

We anticipate knowing more after Governor Whitmer's proposal for extending stay at home orders is heard by the state legislature on April 7, 2020. For now, we know that executive order EO 2020-33 declares a state of disaster, and requests extension of staying at home.

Without the General Membership Meeting in April to submit your membership documents in person, anyone who has not already renewed for 2020, please mail your documents to Curtis Easterling, so you do not get caught by the late submission deadline of May 6, 2020. Note: in the event, that we do not have a May General Membership Meeting, the Director of Licensing and the Board would likely extend the late submission deadline.

The WHRRI Board and Leadership remains committed to keeping you informed as our path forward is clarified.
Planning the events, when permitted, to be safe, with risks minimized to people involved, remains our first priority; with communication, and minimum disruption being key secondary goals.

Sincerely,
Franz Lieder
President, on behalf of the board and club leadership and members
