Racing In July

As people are coming home from the 4th of July weekend and getting back to work, the track is getting ready for Race Weekend 3. Even though it's the same weekend as the SCCA Majors over at Gingerman, there will still be a great week of racing at Waterford Hills. This week there will be not one, but two groups up on the hill this Sunday. The Michigan Mazda Owners Club will be having a meet up on the hill that will be hosted by Team Effort Motorsports (Car 71 Teal ITC MX-3). Joining them will be a group of Ford Model A owners that will bring out around 10-15 Model A's. So don't forget to to visit the hill this weekend and catch some cool cars. (Thanks to Matt Wolfe from our Facebook page for the information)

As always we will also have Time Trials this weekend on Sunday. Time Trials is proving to be a good compromise for those who want to race but can't due to not having a race car ready, time, money, ect. As long as the car can pass a simple tech inspection (the same thing as OTD) you can run it (street car, tuned, race car). As of now we are at our limit for car count (15 cars). So if you did not already register then you are out of luck this week. But, you are still more then welcome to come out and see how things go. Registration for weekend 4 is already up so if you miss this one, you have a chance next race weekend. Registration can be found here

We are also not far from this years Vintage Race. Three (Not two. THREE) days of classic cars that will be putting on a show just as they did years ago. You will see anything from Vintage Formula V's to classic Trans Am's and everything in between. Even Can Am and Formula 3 cars are known to appear. Vintage will be July 25th, 26th, and 27th. So take the weekend off and come out to the track. Updates are issued here.

Also coming up next month is Open Track Day 4. Though it is in August (August 3rd to be correct), it is never to soon to get some work done on the car and get it ready for the next track day. Spots fill quickly (as always) so if you want to come out and run, make sure to register here.

Also at the track this month (or till the next race weekend :P)
Track Rental: July the 15th: Porsche Club of America-Rally Sport Region Driver Educational (classroom and track time)
Track Rental: July the 23rd: Alfa Romeo Owners Club National Rental
Track Rental: August the 2ed: Porsche Club of America-Southeast Michigan HPDE (classroom and track time)

Many of these clubs that rent out the track will welcome anyone to come out and have fun. Even if you are not part of the club or don't own the correct car you are still more then welcome to come out and run. You might even meet some cool people and see some cool cars. Just check the website of the club that is running and it will point you in the right direction from there.

We will also be getting the track ready for Vintage (along with doing some regular maintenance) on July the 19th. As Surratta mention in a post earlier, Vintage is one of the biggest events for Waterford and will be the only event that some drivers, crews, and/or spectators will attend at the track this year. So lets make sure the place looks its best.

Don't forget to visit the track's forums and Facebook page to join in on the conversation and to get the latest on whats going on around the track and join us this weekend for a good time.
